    In the Beginning

    Stoney Creek Campers grew out of a very simple idea – to build the best Camper possible for exploring Australia.

    In 1997, company founder Hank Rojek was planning a 16-week trip across Australia and through the Kimberley Region. It quickly became obvious, however, that there simply wasn’t a camper truly designed and built for one the harshest and most challenging environments in the world – our very own Australian Outback.

    Drawing on his many years of camping and caravan travel, and in his very own workshop, Hank worked tirelessly on a camper that was planned, designed, and built specifically to tackle the Outback.

    The Perfect Question

    After more than four months of travel, that first Camper Trailer went places that no Camper Trailer had gone before.

    Through the Kimberleys, with the amazing Cave Leveque and the Bungle Bungles, across some of Australia’s most difficult 4×4 tracks including the notorious Gibb River Road – onwards it went. And everywhere that Hank and his family stopped, they were asked the same question… “Where can I get one?”

    And so a new business was born.

    Returning to his long-time home of Ipswich, Hank founded his first Off-Road Camper Trailer venture, Trackabout Campers. Working out of a warehouse in Bundamba, Hank and his lifelong friend designed and built every camper themselves, by hand. It didn’t take long for word to catch on. These Camper Trailers were something different. Tough and reliable, with simple setups and practical designs – they built something of a cult following, with customers from all over Australia.

    Hank eventually sold the business, but he never lost his passion.

    The Perfect Solution

    In 2012, following constant requests from customers seeking the same tough, practical and reliable campers that he was known for, Hank established Stoney Creek Campers.

    From its humble beginnings, with one location in Ipswich, Queensland, and one model – Stoney Creek has grown into a true industry leader with locations across Australia and a full range of models.

    After all these years, Stoney Creek Campers is still a proudly family-owned and operated business, now in the hands of the second generation. And despite growing to a national brand, and despite the constant innovations in design, manufacturing and engineering – one thing has never changed.

    We exist to spread the spirit of adventure by building the best Campers for Australia.
