Quick Trips From Every Capital City – Part 2
In this blog we continue the journey around Australia, looking at some of the top camping spots within a few hours of each capital city.
Melbourne
1. Inverloch campground

This well-known gem can be found around two hours from Melbourne CBD with a full assortment of facilities to enjoy. Toilets, showers, laundries, and BBQs are all present across the campground. Located along the picturesque Anderson Inlet you have complete access to the beach.
2. Wye River Beachfront Campground

The Wye River Beachfront Campground is located on the Great Ocean Read, approximately 150km South-West of Melbourne.
This campground is perfect for families and couples alike with activities such as swimming, fishing, boating and bushwalking available. The camping ground provides a range of facilities including toilets, showers, BBQ’s, picnic table and fire pits. With spectacular views over the Wye River Foreshore surrounded by lush green bushland and the ocean what more could you wish for?
Hobart
1. Mt Field National Park

Located just one hour from Hobart, Mt Field National Park Camping offers stunning views of the surrounding mountain ranges, and alpine lakes whilst supplying a range of facilities such as toilets, picnic areas, walking tracks and even a café.
Although this gem is tucked among the mountains it never fails to offer plenty of activities such as bush walking, bird feeding, fishing, mountain biking and in the snow season cross-country skiing.
2. Freycinet National Park
Freycinet National Park is located two hours north-eat of Hobart, offering a range of activities for all to enjoy including camping, bush walking, birdwatching and several water-based activities.

There are a number of locations to camp throughout the park with various facilities such as BBQ’s, showers, toilets and picnic tables.
This stunning national park offers views scarcely seen, no matter which campsite you choose your breath will be taken away.
Adelaide
1. Rapid Bay Campground
This camping area is truly breathtaking.

Nestled along the Fleurieu Peninsula approximately 1.5 hours from Adelaide, this spot is popular for a reason. Surrounded by cliffs, bushland, and a picturesque bay you have the opportunity to swim, fish or bushwalk during your stay.
There are showers (cold) and toilets, however no power. This campground is dog friendly with dogs needing to be always on leads. During your stay, you can also take some short trips to the Rapid Bay Jetty, Lighthouse and the nearby town of Second Valley.

2. Deep Creek Conservation Park
This beauty is found approximately an hour and a half south of Adelaide amongst the picturesque rolling hills overlooking the Southern Ocean. With activities such as bushwalking, mountain biking, horse riding, fishing, and picnicking available, you’re spoilt for choice!
You can find a range of facilities available for your convenience such as toilets, showers, BBQ’s and picnic tables. You will however have to take your grey water with you as there are no dump points throughout the park.

Perth
1. Lake Leschenaultia Campsite
This Perth and surrounds favourite is just over an hour east of the city centre with stunning views of the surrounded forest and lake.

You and your family can partake in everything from swimming to cycling at this campsite with several facilities such as toilets, showers, BBQ’s, washing machines and a nearby Café.
Lake Lescshenaultia Campsite is an ideal destination for anyone looking to escape from the city and enjoy some time in nature.
2. Lane Pool Reserve

This expansive camping area offers stunning views and scenery all year round, with unique wildlife and stunning wildflowers in spring it’s the place to be. It’ll take you around an hour and a half to get there from Perth with activities for everyone. There are more strenuous ones such as horse riding, canoeing, and mountain biking or more relaxing ones like fishing, swimming or picnicking.
Some facilities available for use include picnic and BBQ areas and dogs are allowed in select areas.
Darwin
1. Litchfield National Park
This well-known location can be found around an hour and a half from Darwin with legendary beauty.

These campsites are scattered throughout the park with waterfalls, walking tracks, swimming holes (don’t mind the crocs) and an abundance of wildlife. Go for a swim in these water holes or go for a hike to undertake some birdwatching. You can also take advantage of the park toilets and Café.
This world-renowned national park will not disappoint, offering an unforgettable experience.
2. Crab Claw Resort

Don’t let the name of this campground fool you, although it says resort there are campsites available for all shapes and sizes. Just over an hour and a half drive from Darwin, this beachside campground comes stocked with toilets, showers, potable water, BBQ and picnic areas, a bar, restaurant, laundry area, WIFI, bins and a boat ramp. What more could you want?
You can even partake in croc-free swimming at the two swimming pools, go for a bushwalk, fishing, bird watching or mud crabbing!
